plant protection

Introduction

The plant protection department started in 1984 with the aim of improving the quantity and quality of agricultural products with an emphasis on efficient and effective non-chemical methods. This department has laboratories of agricultural entomology, plant pathology, greenhouses and a weed research site, and it has three research faculty members (2 in plant pathology and 1 in agricultural entomology).

 

The latest completed research projects

Some of the latest research projects completed in the last 4 years are as follows:

1- Identification of natural vector of prunus yellowing and decline phytoplasma (16SrXXIX) and evaluation of tolerance and resistance of peach trees to this phytoplasma in Yazd and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces, Iran

2- Introducing the best time for sesame cultivation to manage the sesame phyllody disease control in Yazd province

3- Efficacy of potassium silicate (Silokasol ®) SC on pistachio psyllid, Agonoscena pistaciae

4- Isolation and Screening of yeast strains from pistachio producing areas throughout of Iran and their interactions with toxigenic strains of Apergillus flavus

5- Susceptibility of Different Populations of Common Pistachio Psyllids (Agonoscena pistaciae) to Common Applied Insecticides

6- Microemulsion of botanical pesticide based on essential oil from Artemasia sieberi-Eucalyptus globulus in pest management of Pistachio psylla

7- Study of pistachio contamination to Aspergillus flavus and aflatoxin in traditional, semi mechanized and mechanized processing unit of Damghan region

8- Study of effectiveness of acaricide Oberon Spid (24% SC) for control of Tetranychus urticae on cucumber in greenhouses

9- Determination of infestation of pomegranate orchards and nurseries to plant parasitic nematodes with an emphasis on root knot nematodes

10- Production of an effective formulation based on wood vinegar to control of pests

11- Efficacy of Vertimec and Proclaim-fit on pistachio fruit moth Recurvaria pistaciicola

12- Assessment of biological and molecular characteristics of phytoplasma(s) associated with greenhouse cucumber phyllody in Yazd province

13- Determination of copper oxychloride fungicide brands effect in control of cucumber downy mildew in greenhouses
